Charitable Donations and Educational Grants
Only qualified recipients will be considered for AMO support.
AMO will consider a request for a charitable donation only from a public charity with tax-exempt status as defined by Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and AMO limits its charitable support to (1) programs or projects that reduce human suffering by (a) expanding awareness of vision-related conditions, their prevention and treatment, (b) enhancing support and access to care for underserved vision care patients, and/or (c) supporting research and education to increase expertise and innovation in treating vision-related conditions, and (2) educational activities related to vision care and innovation.
AMO also will consider a request for an educational grant to support third-party educational and professional meetings such as accredited CME and CE programs. AMO limits such support to medical education providers and other third-party sponsors of programs and activities that foster increased understanding of scientific, clinical or health care issues in the areas of ophthalmology and optometry.
